By Graham "GSM" Matthews Finn Balor def. Tye Dillinger Dillinger had a fine showing, but this was a total showcase for Balor and as always, he shined. I don't care how short his match lasts: as long as I get to see his awesome entrance, that's all that matters. In all seriousness, it would've been cool if the match went a little longer than it did, especially for Dillinger's sake. I've said this countless times before, but the kid's got potential. He's been grossly overlooked since he arrived in NXT and an impressive outing against an established star such as Balor would have done wonders for him. A missed opportunity. Becky Lynch def. Charlotte and Bayley in a No. 1 Contender's Triple Threat Match for the NXT Women's Championship It wasn't the show stealing match the Fatal 4-Way was at NXT: Rival back in February, but it was still better than anything we see from the main roster ladies these days (though that can be said for almost every women's match in NXT). Each of them got in their signature maneuvers, and while it slightly suffered from crowd interest (due to a long night of tapings), they brought the crowd to life down the stretch. The finish was fantastic in that it gave Lynch a huge win while also protecting Charlotte and Bayley. Furthermore, Lynch vs. Sasha Banks is a fresh match I'm looking forward to seeing over the title.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Fandango def. Curtis Axel We saw the same match on Raw this week, although was slightly longer but only a few minutes. It didn't matter it was one minute or ten: it failed to peak my interest. Axel has gotten his Axelmania shtick over in a major way and Fandango is a great athlete, but their in-ring styles simply don't click. People get a kick out of Axel, but they don't take him seriously because he never wins. The return of Fandangoing was cool for one night in England, but it clearly hasn't had the same reaction in the States, unfortunately for him. Brie Bella def. Alicia Fox Man, and I thought the crowd was flat for the opener. You could have heard a pin drop at ant point in this match. And don't take that as a knock on the talents involved but rather the booking of the talents involved. Fox has floundered for years and it still hasn't been clearly defined whether The Bella Twins are babyfaces now or not. Brie's booking before last week was already atrocious, but her recent turn doesn't help matters, which is why it came as no surprise that the crowd sat on their hands for this one. They briefly came alive when Brie was on offense, but other than that, they were dead silent. By John Napolitano If you weren't a member of the all-time record-setting audience that witnessed WrestleMania XXXI, one of the 1.3 million subscribers of the WWE Network, or if you’ve recently awakened from a debilitating coma, you’ll be surprised to learn that the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion is Seth Rollins. Yes, the indie darling turned sports entertainment savant has effectively and ever so epically grabbed Vince McMahon’s invisible brass ring while punching his stamp on one of the most exhilarating WrestleManias ever. Since the fated disbanding of the S.H.I.E.L.D. in June of last year, Rollins has worked tirelessly, night in and night out in order to prove that he is not only a main event player but also the undisputed future of this industry. His unparalleled rivalry with Dean Ambrose, solid program with John Cena, and masterful work with Randy Orton have cemented him as the top heel in the WWE for the foreseeable future. Seth Rollins’ youth and considerable locker room virginity is a booker’s dream in that there are so many fresh feuds to be had. With that being said, it’s time to dive into the five must-see feuds for the Davenport native, Seth Rollins. By Graham "GSM" Matthews WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins Interrupted Randy Orton The feud between Orton and Rollins has been heating up nicely and they've done a good job of making viewers forget the crappy build we saw before WrestleMania. Their latest back-and-forth on the mic was solid that effectively hyped their Steel Cage match on Sunday. While Orton emphasized that he doesn't need the RKO to put Rollins away at Extreme Rules, he still threatened to hit the move at some point during the night, providing a hook through the rest of the show. Rollins continues to shine on the mic and as a character as seen by the way he exudes confidence, but you already knew that. Dean Ambrose vs. Luke Harper Ended in a No Contest Both of these guys are extremely underutilized, so I'm happy to see WWE finally doing something with them. Granted, they're not at the level they deserve to be at, but I'll settle for anything. I was glad the match didn't come to fruition as they can really go all out in some sort of gimmick match at Extreme Rules and their subsequent brawl gave a nice preview of that. Their similar hardcore styles would make for one hell of a Falls Count Anywhere match or something along those lines. |
