Ethan Carter III, Magnus and James Storm Confronted Impact Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion LashleyIt's been a while since Lashley last appeared in front of the crowd if my memory serves me correctly, and although I wish we would see more of him, he definitely comes across as one of Impact Wrestling's sole special attractions. He carries himself like a world champion, and his promo here was solid in addressing his upcoming challengers. EC3, Magnus and Storm cut good promos as well in hyping their No. 1 Contender's Triple Threat match for later in the night. By the way, doesn't Bruce Prichard know that Triple Threat matchups automatically feature no disqualifications? KM and Kongo Kong def. Braxton Sutter and Mahabali SheraAs I've noted before, Shera does absolutely nothing for me, as it doesn't look like he has improved at all in his few years with Impact Wrestling. That said, I'm not surprised he's being pushed at the moment with the company beginning their tour of India in two weeks. The match itself was decent enough and everyone played their roles well for the most part (including the women at ringside) with the heels furthering their recent momentum by picking up the victory. Rosemary coming to Allie's aid afterward was interesting, though I'm sure it will lead to a title unification match between Rosemary and Sienna at Slammiversary.
Aleister Black def. Curt HawkinsI really liked how the commentators made mention of the brief history these two have from their match on Main Event earlier this month. The fact they showed footage of Main Event at all was a pleasant surprise. This was easily Black's most competitive squash match to date and the crowd ate up all of his awesome offense. I always look forward to see him kick someone's face in. On a side note, I'm curious as to whether Hawkins will be a regular in NXT going forward (similar to how he was in 2013/2014) or if this was merely a one-off. The Velveteen Dream def. Robert AnthonyAt first glance, Dream immediately reminded me of Orlando Jordan during his short stint in TNA years ago, just without all the guys and girls kissing each other. Dream is a much better wrestler than Jordan ever was from what I've seen from him in the past, and he's definitely dedicated to the gimmick, that's for sure. Doing a gay (or "exotic") gimmick in 2017 and expecting it to be booed just seems ridiculously outdated to me, but maybe the fans at Full Sail University will take to it after awhile and the act will get over. If nothing else, the height he got off his flying elbow finisher was damn impressive.
NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champions Los Ingobernables de Japon def. Tiger Mask, Jushin "Thunder" Liger and DeliriousIt's no secret that I hardly follow the Japanese wrestling scene, but I'm familiar enough with Los Ingobernables de Japon that this match wasn't completely foreign to me. The in-ring work was fine, albeit nothing special, nor did the titles ever feel like they were in jeopardy of changing hands. It was also weird that Delirious was protected in defeat considering he's a booker these days and no longer wrestles as a regular for Ring of Honor. NEVER Openweight Champion Hirooki Goto def. Punishment MartinezMartinez has impressed me more and more with every outing he's had in ROH in recent months and this affair was no exception. Goto is excellent in his own right, of course, but Martinez more than held his own and had a strong showing in defeat. The sinister smile Martinez shot Goto afterward was also a cool touch and allowed him to maintain his mystique. He has a very bright future ahead of him if he can stay the course.
