Princesa Sugehit def. KAy Lee Ray in a First Round MatchOf all the matches on the pilot episode, this was the best choice to kick the night off in fun fashion. The crowd was engaged in the action and was behind both ladies with their excellent outings. I was pulling for Ray to advance and honestly assumed she would, but Sugehit is a fine choice, though. Will she be this year's Gran Metalik where she goes much farther in the brackets than initially expected? Serena Deeb def. Vanessa Borne in a First Round MatchBorne didn't particularly impress me when we saw her compete in a Mae Young Classic qualifying match on NXT TV a few months ago, but since she's obviously still green in the ring, it was wise to pair her up with someone much more experienced than her in Deeb. I imagine Deeb will be have a similar role to The Brian Kendrick in the Cruiserweight Classic where she will have her redemption story to tell throughout the tourney, and she looked good in her first bout back.

oVe def. The HeatseekersAs I noted in my Destination X review last week, I wasn't overly impressed with oVe's debut, though this was a significantly better outing from them. They're clearly skilled in the ring, but nothing about their characters stood out to me on Night 1 or here. They were given a bit more time to showcase their skills, and fans in attendance are obviously behind them which is a plus, but I personally need more of a reason to care about them. Taryn Terrell Addressed Her ActionsTerrell has this awesome presence about her whenever she makes her entrance, but her mic work leaves a lot to be desired. I don't remember how good her promos were before she left the last time a few years ago, but she came across like Beautiful People-lite in this segment, and no one plays that role better than them in GFW. Needless to say, this was a pretty poor promo with a questionable explanation for her actions last week. I still like the idea of Terrell and Gail Kim rekindling their rivalry, but the program isn't off to a strong start.
#AskGSM Edition #195: Enzo Amore Joining 205 Live, Rusev Leaving WWE?, Lesnar vs. Strowman, More8/24/2017 #AskGSM is a weekly Q&A video where I, Graham "GSM" Matthews answer fan questions from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in regards to the world of wrestling. Nothing is off limits, and this week’s edition touches upon a variety of topics including:
Lars Sullivan Attacked No Way JoseJose doesn't make a ton of televised appearances these days, but crowds love him, nevertheless, especially Brooklyn, where he wrestled Austin Aries last year. He wasn't even able to make his full entrance before Sullivan attacked him from behind on the ramp. It was totally unexpected and I like the angle because it finally moves the physically impressive Sullivan into a full-fledged feud where we can see what he's capable of. Peyton Royce def. Sarah LoganRoyce and Billie Kay have been spinning their wheels in NXT for so long that I honestly think it's time they're brought up to the main roster. It's obvious they won't be dethroning Asuka as NXT Women's Champion, so they might as well go to Raw or SmackDown Live. At any rate, this was a decent match while it lasted, though nothing memorable. Logan had a fine outing, but she'll need more opportunities to showcase her skills and develop her character before she can become a player in NXT's women's division. Hopefully she'll get that opportunity in the Mae Young Classic airing next week.
