By Graham "GSM" Matthews Extremely entertaining match with Samoa Joe defeating Magnus to successfully retain his Television Championship. Although the feud has fluctuated in recent months, these two are incapable of providing bad matches. They fully utilized the No Disqualification aspect of the bout as well, which made for some hard-hitting action. This was a great opener to the show and both guys looked strong as well after kicking out of each other's finishers multiple times. Fine mixed tag team match with Knockouts Tag Team Champions ODB and Eric Young defeating Knockouts Champion Tara and Jesse. Wait, the Knockouts Tag Team titles still exist? Anyway, the action was mostly comedy, but it was better than what we've seen in recent weeks merely due to Young. Here's hoping the story-line ends here and the Knockouts title can go back to being defended on a regular basis and taken seriously.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Great match to kick off the show with Bobby Roode defeating AJ Styles. It involved a lot of awesome action and the final moments were very suspenseful. James Storm did an excellent job on commentary and really teased tension between him and Styles going into the Triple Threat match at Sunday's Turning Point. I've always enjoyed how TNA always changes up their opener on a weekly basis and this was no exception. Fine promo featuring Hulk Hogan and Joseph Parks. Hogan granted Parks a match at Turning Point against one of the Aces and 8s members and that was about it, so this segment was nothing out of the ordinary. However, both guys played their roles well. World Heavyweight Champion Big Show knocks out William Regal. Good opening segment featuring Sheamus, World Heavyweight Champion Big Show and Wade Barrett. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but everyone involved displayed nice mic work and played their roles well. Aside from building towards the tag team match later in the night, it also hype the Barrett vs. Sheamus bout on Main Event this week, so it was effective in that aspect as well. Great match with Kofi Kingston successfully defending his Intercontinental Championship against The Miz. Next to their Main Event match a few weeks back, this was certainly one of my favorite clashes between the two. Kingston pulled off a lot of cool spots and Miz told a story by repeatedly going for Kingston's leg. Kingston retaining was predictable, but I can't complain following a hot match to kick of the wrestling portion of the show. It seemed as if Miz could've been on the verge of a face turn by shaking Kofi's hand following the contest (which would make the most sense at this point), so it confused me as to why Kingston attacked him regardless. Fun match with the Prime Time Players defeating Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara. It was rather brief, but I enjoyed it while it lasted. Darren Young and Titus O'Neil needed a victory here after losing to them a handful of times before, so it was a logical and nice win for them. The post-match promo didn't do much for him, as it dragged on a bit too long and wasn't that good, but I also managed to find it humorous at the same time. Ryback delivers a hard-hitting Shell Shock to WWE Champ CM Punk. Interesting opener featuring The Miz and Paul Heyman in a pre-taped segment. I'm exactly sure why The Miz would quit Team Punk, but I would assume it's WWE's of building suspense for who might eventually replace him. It was something out of the ordinary to start the show with and I found it to be a refreshing change of pace. Fun six-man tag team match with R-Truth, Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara defeating United States Champion Antonio Cesaro and the Prime Time Players. It was a hot way to kick off the wrestling portion of the show and all the competitors involved delivered. It furthered the feuds involved and got Truth back into the U.S. title picture with his pin-fall victory over Cesaro. Mediocre segment involving John Cena and Vickie Guerrero. It was basically what we saw last week, just with more "incriminating" evidence of the potential AJ-Cena affair. Obviously, there's no doubt in anyone's mind that Vickie is organizing the entire thing, as Cena's character would never be involved in such activity. However, I do give props to the English audience for making this segment much more enjoyable than it would've been, as their various reactions toward the clips were hilarious. Brief match with Cody Rhodes defeating WWE Tag Team Champion Daniel Bryan. The action was great while it lasted, hence why I would've liked to see it last a bit longer. The crowd absolutely loved Bryan, which is exactly where they should've given him a bit more in-ring time here. This gives Rhodes a nice win over a former World Heavyweight Champion, despite the fact he never received a televised entrance when he obviously should have. Decent match with Kane defeating Damien Sandow. Although this bout lasted a bit longer than the previous match, it wasn't much different. The action felt rushed, but at least it evened the odds between the two teams. This match could've been better saved for another week, but I understand they held both singles bouts back-to-back in order to kill time. Horrendous promo from Brad Maddox. I couldn't care less what he had to say to be quite honest, and the live crowd seemed to think so as well given their lack of reaction. This promo dragged on way too long and I speak for myself when I say that I don't wish to see Maddox as any type of on-screen character going forward. Mr. McMahon's subsequent promo with Managing Supervisor Vickie Guerrero was equally as confusing and really killed the crowd for a good part of the show. Not only did the delivery of the announcement of the Triple Threat WWE Championship match at Survivor Series fall flat, but it made absolutely no sense. Why bother booking Team Punk vs. Team Foley last week if it was never going to come to fruition? This mind-boggling booking seemed to be a common trend throughout the show. Good match between Sheamus and The Miz. I enjoyed the action and it received great time, but the crowd wasn't all that into it. Miz had a nice showing, but the finish was pretty predictable. World Heavyweight Champion Big Show played his role well on commentary and helped hype his upcoming title defense against Sheamus at the Survivor Series pay-per-view. |
