By Graham "GSM" Matthews WWE Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes and Goldust def. The Real Americans The action was very enjoyable throughout and proved that these two teams worked very well together. The Rhodes brothers have been doing phenomenal work since pairing up over a month ago, so there was no real reason to take the titles off them this soon. The Real Americans will be title holders at some point down the line, but they had a strong showing against the current champs here. The live crowd was hot for the final few minutes and the match also built toward the traditional Survivor Series elimination tag team match on Sunday. Ryback def. The Great Khali I read recently that Ryback will be holding another open challenge of some sort at Survivor Series, so if this is storyline for the foreseeable future, then it is rather reminiscent of what Gail Kim is doing right now in TNA. As expected, it was a throwaway match with Khali getting in more offense than he should have. Sure, Ryback hitting the Shell Shocked on Khali to pick up the win was impressive, but it wasn't anything we haven't already seen in the past.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews James Storm Interrupted Dixie Carter Dixie's heel performances have usually been hit or miss over the last two months, but I thought her work here was an improvement over what she has done in recent weeks. Storm played his part well and made up for Dixie's lack of believablity as a character. It was good to see Storm spotlighted for once and I like the move of making his match a Florida Death match, as it is ten times more interesting than a Bull Rope match. Magnus def. Samoa Joe in a Falls Count Anywhere Match to Advance to the Semifinals of the TNA Title Tournament As good of a match that these two had, they simply have had better matches in the past. They utilized extreme environment well, but it was hard to engage in the action. The fact Joe didn't even bother to take off his shirt before the bout gives off the impression he isn't in the best shape, which is a shame. The finish came out of nowhere and it was unclear if Magnus truly went over clean or not. Regardless, it is nice to see Magnus advance to the semifinals, as he is my pick to win the tournament. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Bo Dallas Returned to NXT Dallas has improved immensely in his heel role in recent months and although I can't believe I am saying this, but it was nice to have him back after a month-long absence. I guess absence does indeed cause the heart to grow fonder. His "slideshow" was comical and Sami Zayn's interruption was logical. Zayn provided good mic work and foreshadowed an eventual rematch with Dallas for the NXT Championship. It was also nice to see JBL make an appearance, seeing how the general managers of NXT are rarely ever make appearances on television. Alexander Rusev def. Colin Cassidy in a Beat the Clock Challenge Match It is a shame that Enzo Amore was put on the shelf with an injury, as he was the only entertaining thing about his tag team with Cassidy. Cassidy isn't bad without Amore, but it just comes off as bland. His match with Rusev was surprisingly solid, as I expected it to be a bit more clunky given their similar large statures. Rusev continues to be pushed aggressively and it is hard to oppose it when he has talent and will only get better over time. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Tamina Snuka def. Naomi Wait, wasn't AJ Lee vs. Naomi initially announced on WWE's official website? I guess it doesn't matter much, as I doubt it would have made that big of a difference. The match mostly consisted of Tamina dominating Naomi, which made sense given Tamina's gimmick, but it was still a boring bout. Naomi hardly got any offense in before taking the loss. I am glad Tamina went over here and the win gives her team momentum going into Survivor Series, but this was nothing more than an elongated squash match. If nothing else, it received well over 10 minutes of in-ring time, which is rare for the Divas division nowadays. Alberto Del Rio def. Santino Marella Although I despise Santino's act at times, he is fine in small doses and was effective here. It was a decent match, but could have been The ending outcome was never in doubt, but I assume it was WWE's last attempt in getting heat on Del Rio before Survivor Series. I will once again stress that I believe that it is too little too late, but I appreciate the effort from WWE. It was a decent |
