By RJ Marceau The Royal Rumble match wasn’t the best I have ever seen but I think the show as a whole was really good. Charlotte retaining in a good match, The Club won the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships and AJ Styles and John Cena had a match of the year quality match.
When it comes to the Rumble some of the eliminations were head scratching. I would say some of the early entrants were a waste but the whole point of them being in the match was for Braun Strowman to toss them. I will start with Braun Strowman. Braun was in the match for 13 mins and 11 secs with 7 eliminations which isn’t bad. My issue is how he was built coming into the match and where he was eliminated. Braun was a favorite going into the match and had interfered in the WWE Universal Title Match earlier in the night. Strowman easily should be one of the last five people left and being eliminated by Corbin rather than Reigns was stupid. It served no purpose and did nothing for a future feud. His early exit from the match reminded me of Daniel Bryan's elimination in 2015 of how once he was out it sucked the wind out of the crowd because he was a favorite that was eliminated randomly.

By RJ Marceau The past few years the Royal Rumble has been very predictable with John Cena, Batista, Roman Reigns and Triple H winning the match. The matches have been awful as well besides last year's. This year however is probably the best Rumble in 10 years with the talent in this match and there are four-five guys I believe could win. In no specific order here are the five guys I believe could win the 2017 Royal Rumble Match.
By RJ Marceau Since Samoa Joe lost his NXT Championship to Shinsuke Nakamura at the NXT Japan live event he hasn’t been seen on NXT TV. Joe isn’t advertised for NXT TakeOver: San Antonio so a call-up should happen at the Royal Rumble. I am conflicted in how they should debut Joe whether he interferes in the WWE Championship match between John Cena and AJ Styles or in the Royal Rumble match.
Either way, it would be a surprise but I think him screwing either AJ Styles or John Cena would be a bigger shock. If I was booking it, I would have him screw John Cena to help AJ retain his title. As of now, it seems like they don’t have plans for either AJ or Cena at WrestleMania. Joe would be a perfect opponent for John Cena at WrestleMania. It’s rumored that Cena will be more of a part-timer in 2017 so they could start the feud at the Rumble, face off at WrestleMania and could even wrestle at SummerSlam. I won’t say losing at WrestleMania would kill his career because AJ Styles lost to Jericho but it seems idiotic to have these guys built up to lose at WrestleMania when that is all people will remember. By RJ Marceau A new year, a new set of WWE bold predictions. Below are my six predictions from 2016:
I predicted Kalisto and American Alpha correctly with both of them winning the titles. Kalisto had two terrible reigns as United States Champion but he did hold the belt in 2016. American Alpha is the current SmackDown WWE Tag Team Champions and should hold the belts for a substantial amount of time. Bray Wyatt did win a title in 2016 but he didn’t even wrestle at WrestleMania 32. Instead he was embarrassed by The Rock but ended 2016 strong. I was off on Owens and the Four Horsewomen but Owens did win the Universal Title and Becky, Sasha and Charlotte did have an amazing match at WrestleMania 32. I couldn’t have been more wrong about Wade Barrett since the only thing he won in 2016 was a pink slip. |
