Rusev def. Neville
Rusev and Neville had the fun David vs. Goliath dynamic going for them, but with Rusev on offense for a majority of the match, it wasn't the type of match I was expecting from them. That's not to say that was a bad thing, however, as it allowed Rusev to look strong and Neville had his flurry of offense down the stretch. Rusev needs as much momentum as he can get at the moment given he's a part of the League of Nations. On a side note, I appreciated how The Miz was shown backstage watching Neville's match so at least that program wasn't completely ignored.
Jack Swagger def. Bo Dallas
Less than a week removed from his United States Championship match against Alberto Del Rio at TLC, Swagger is already back on Main Event. Arguably, that's where he belongs. He is a talented hand in the ring as seen in this pretty good match with Dallas, but he's damaged goods and his chances of ever escaping the lower-midcard are slim to none. As noted, though, the match he and Dallas had was better than it had any right to be.
The Usos def. The Ascension
As soon as The Ascension were announced as The Usos' opponents, you knew this was going to be a total showcase for The Usos. It was a fun match for what it was, but not much more than that. Crowds couldn't care less about The Ascension at this point, but at least they can always be counted on for a quality performance, and when they're in there with The Usos, it's almost guaranteed to be an enjoyable affair.
This edition of Main Event didn't have much going for it to be honest. None of the three matches were bad by any means, but at the same time, they didn't stand out in any meaningful way, either. Rusev vs. Neville was largely boring up until the end, Swagger vs. Dallas exceeded my expectations but wasn't must-see, and the main event tag match didn't last long. There are worse episodes than this, but there are better episodes available to watch as well.
