Cody Rhodes, Goldust and Los Matadores def. Curtis Axel, Ryback and 3MB
Multi-man matches can usually be a train wreck, but this match was surprisingly painless. I couldn't care less about anyone involved in the match except for the Rhodes brothers (what did they ever do to deserve this treatment?!), but the action was decent while it lasted. The finishing sequence was fun and I didn't at all having a problem with Heath Slater getting pinned by El Torito since Slater is enhancement talent anyway, so does it matter?
Aksana and Alicia Fox def. Natalya and Eva Marie
I have three burning questions coming out of this match. First, why was Eva Marie a face after wrestling as a heel last week? Granted, it was on WWE Superstars (a show almost no one watches), but still, character consistency is key. Second, why in the hell would Natalya take the pin and not Eva? Third, why is Aksana winning matches despite badly injuring one of the top faces in the Divas division in Naomi? What an absolute mess this all was.
Darren Young def. Titus O'Neil
Both guys tried hard to have a good match, but the live crowd just didn't care. Props to O'Neil for at least attempting to garner heat with his dog barking, but that was the only point in the match where the audience was actually receptive. I'm a fan of both competitors, but their feud has been a flop thus far. It's interesting that JTG and Shad also had a rematch from their pay-per-view match days later on WWE Superstars, similar to his this rivalry has played out. So, does that mean one of them will be released by year's end and the other will never appear on television? I surely hope not, as both former Prime Time Players are very talented that shouldn't go to waste.
Sin Cara def. Damien Sandow
The match looked like a complete squash on paper, but Sin Cara scored much more offense over Sandow than I expected him to. What was even worse was that Cara ultimately picked up the victory, and for what? I highly doubt he will be pushed coming out of this, and if the last few months have been any indication, Sandow's losing streak is going nowhere. This did nothing to benefit either competitors and don't really see what purpose it was supposed to serve.
Main Event hasn't been anything special as of late, but this was a worse show than usual. I didn't like the four match format, as not one of the four bouts received enough time or focus to feel memorable or meaningful. None of the matches were particularly great and felt thrown together at the last minute to fill out the show. It was like this last year with Main Event on the road to WrestleMania, but I hope not every show will be like this for the next two months.
