The O.C. def. Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder
For whatever it's worth, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson entered to their original theme song and not the music they've been using as The O.C. for a few months now. It looks like they may be relegated to Main Event for the foreseeable future while AJ Styles is out injured. So much for being the "best tag team in the world," eh? In all seriousness, this was a perfectly fine match with good work from both teams. Hawkins and Ryder showed nice babyface fire, but The O.C. went over in the end as they should have.
Cedric Alexander def. Shelton Benjamin
Benjamin and Alexander originally clashed two weeks ago on Main Event where Alexander picked up the victory. It was the same story here, as they had yet another awesome match against each other. I realize nothing of what happens on this show rarely ever matters and I doubt Alexander will earn a regular gig on Raw again coming off theses back-to-bout bouts with Benjamin, but I really enjoyed this for what it was and, evidently, the crowd did, too. I'm happy they were given for than a few minutes for this. They deserve it.
While The O.C. vs. Hawkins and Ryder didn't offer anything out of the ordinary, at least it was something different than the usual matches we see on this show (i.e. Mojo Rawley vs. No Way Jose). Meanwhile, I absolutely loved Alexander vs. Benjamin and wouldn't complain if we got more matches between them because their chemistry is so strong. To top it all off, the Raw recaps aren't a chore to sit through because Monday's show was strong I thought, making this one of the better editions of Main Event in recent memory.
