R-Truth def. Adam Rose
I was legitimately shocked when someone got a "Party Pooper!" chant going. I figured the fans wouldn't give two craps about Rose, but at least he has some heat with this new character which is better than nothing. Truth also has nothing going for him at the moment, so as you can imagine, this match was beyond dull. Rose was on offense for a good portion of the match only for Truth to hit his finisher out of nowhere and win, so it was a pretty pointless affair that wouldn't do anything to help either guy. Rose needs a total gimmick overhaul and I don't think declaring himself the "party pooper" will get him anywhere other than Superstars.
Neville and The Lucha Dragons def. Stardust and The Ascension
It's a shame this was taped before SmackDown because the commentators could have told a great story with it following the events from Thursday night, but apparently the voice-overs are recorded afterward, so Rich Brennan alluded to Stardust's new alliance with The Ascension early on in the show. It was a fun albeit formulaic match and I'm already digging the alliance between Stardust and The Ascension. I didn't mind the new heel trio taking the loss here because Viktor was pinned and it's Superstars, so essentially the loss doesn't matter.
Any match involving Truth on Superstars is almost always a waste of time, but the six-man tag team match was probably the most meaningful match we've had on this show in quite some. I don't know if they planned to put Stardust and The Ascension together when this match was made before SmackDown, but even still, it had some significance and it was well-wrestled to boot, so it made the second half of this episode worth watching.
