By Graham "GSM" Matthews Bad Influence def. Minoru Tanaka and Koji Kanemoto I'm no Japanese wrestling historian, but from what I understand, Tanaka and Kanemoto are a top tandem in Japan. With that said, having them square off against one of America's very best in Bad Influence in the opening match was a smart move. The action was exciting and the two teams worked well together. I was surprised to see Bad Influence win cleanly, but it was a nice rare victory for them. Bad Influence aren't even under contract to TNA anymore, and they spoke afterward backstage about being the best in the business. How embarrassing must that be for TNA? Either way, this match helped set the tone for the remainder of the night. Gail Kim def. Knockouts Champion Madison Rayne (Non-title) Obviously, this was taped when Kim was still a heel and feuding with Rayne over the title. Kim and Rayne are two of the stronger workers in the division and they had a good match here, but they've had better bouts in the past. Since the match didn't feature any Wrestle-1 talent, the live crowd was less inclined to care. They worked hard during the time they were given, but it was as good of a match as it could have been. Kim winning, I assume, was done to set up a rematch between them for Lockdown later that month.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Adam Rose def. Heath Slater This was the third time these two have clashed on Superstars in recent months and it wasn't any more interesting this time than it was the prior two times. The bit at ringside with the Rosebuds dressing Hornsoggle up in the Rose gear was comical, but the match itself was forgettable and more of the same from the two. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Slater the one who eliminated Cesaro from the Intercontinental Championship Battle Royal at Battleground? And now he's jobbing on Superstars? What gives? Alberto Del Rio def. R-Truth This was yet another rematch that I had zero interest in seeing again. Del Rio, while a very good worker, bores me to tears along with Truth. Who thought it would be a good idea to put them in the ring together? I was in the arena for when they first faced off and that match was terrible, so this was a slight improvement. Even still, it felt like a waste of time. By Graham "GSM" Matthews NXT Tag Team Champions The Ascension def. Johnny Vandal and Aaron Solow (Non-title) I'm honestly at a loss for words and any longtime viewers of NXT should know why. I still enjoy the Ascension act, but it's the same thing every single week. It's not necessarily their fault. They just need stronger opponents that aren't local athletes. It's good that a tag team division is building around them, but it'd help if they mingled with the other teams a bit more. They can't be that anti-social, can they? Tyler Breeze def. Mojo Rawley The match was as short as it was probably because Breeze is still injured, so I don't have any problem with that. What I do have a problem with is Rawley being the one who had to take the loss. In a way, he was protected because he was outsmarted by Breeze and Rawley's matches should never be long because he's limited in the ring, but they've spent so much time trying to build him up that a quick loss was mind boggling. I hope Breeze heals up soon so he can finally kick off his NXT Championship feud with Adrian Neville. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Bobby Roode def. MVP in a Falls Count Anywhere Match It felt premature to hold such a stipulation match between these two so soon, especially since MVP is still injured, but perhaps that was the point so MVP had an out for losing. The match never really got started, which was strange, but the live crowd was hot for their brawl. The two are capable of having more of a match together, but as stated before, this could simply be the first of many matches between the two. The Hardys Reunited and Challenged TNA World Tag Team Champions The Wolves As a massive fan of The Hardys, it was awesome to see them back together in TNA for the first time in three years. I was glad Matt acknowledged his past problems that led to his departure from the company back in 2011 and his honest promo was well-received by the live crowd. Their verbal exchange with The Wolves was nothing particularly memorable since none of these guys are strong mic workers, but the idea of a dream match between them coming true at Destination X was enough to excite those in attendance. |
