SmackDown Women's Champion Asuka, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair Engaged in an Intense StandoffLynch continues to deliver on the mic and I still have my mind set on Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey (vs. Charlotte Flair?) headlining WrestleMania 35. I loved how Asuka stayed silent here and instead let her facial expressions and mannerisms do the talking for her. Flair didn't hit a home run with her promo, but at least she was fully in heel mode for a change and planted the seed of her potentially winning the women's Royal Rumble. The brawl that followed with Lynch and Asuka was great and made me more excited for their upcoming encounter than I already was. Mandy Rose def. NaomiPersonally, I haven't been the biggest fan of this feud over the last month, if only because it has felt predictable and nothing about it has piqued my interest. It doesn't help that this match was mediocre, but I applaud their effort, nonetheless. I especially liked Rose winning because it prolongs the rivalry a little longer and gives Rose a notable victory over a former SmackDown Women's Champion.

Rezar def. Tyler BreezeIn case you haven't heard, Akam is apparently out injured and will be for the foreseeable future. That's terrible news for Rezar and Drake Maverick, because AOP was just starting to pick up steam again before they abruptly dropped the Raw Tag Team Championship and were taken off TV. It's worse when you consider Rezar won't be pushed on his own, and shouldn't be based off his showing here. This was a pretty abysmal match and I have no clue how that one awkward spot toward the end wasn't edited out. Mojo Rawley def. No Way JoseI remember reading a rumor a while ago that said Rawley was unhappy with his status in WWE and was looking to leave when his contract expired. No, I doubt he'd be All Elite Wrestling bound, but it's clear he won't be anything more than an enhancement talent for of his career, so maybe he'll go back to football or sign with IMPACT or something. Either way, he has negative momentum at the moment, and simply isn't any good. This was a fairly lifeless match in my opinion, though not nearly as bad as it had the potential to be.
What's the Royal Rumble Game?It isn't Royal Rumble season until the official details for my annual Royal Rumble Game are released, and thus here we are! This will be the sixth consecutive year I will be hosting the Royal Rumble Game, and it remains one of my favorite things to do all year. Thanks to all who have ever participated and will continue to participate. I'm extremely excited for this upcoming installment, so let's get cracking!
By this point, everyone should be fairly familiar with the rules of the Royal Rumble (considering it's usually the same people who throw their name in the hat every year), but for those who are unfamiliar with the concept, here have been the rules in the past: You pick a number 1-30. Each entry is limited to one person (you can still play unofficially if you'd like), and it's first come, first serve. The designated sign-up date and time is below. Whoever enters at your number in the Royal Rumble Game will be your "favorite" wrestler for the next year. I said that lightheartedly because you don't have to stick to that if you don't want to, but it's more fun if you do. Similar to last year, there will two Rumble pools: one for the men's Rumble, and one for the women's Rumble. Unlike last year, however, you can enter both, so while there are 60 available spots in the 2019 Royal Rumble Game, there will be 30 total entrants again. You are still limited to only one spot per Rumble, but when you choose two numbers between 1-30, please specify which is for the men's or and which is for women's. No two people can choose the same spot in either Rumble. Therefore, there will be two winners (unless the same person wins both, which is possible)! Finn Balor def. Braun Strowman by DisqualificationPaul Heyman hasn't cut what I would call a memorable promo in some time, and I don't think his promo before this bout broke any new ground. We get it, the fans believe in Balor, yet he's smaller than Brock Lesnar, so he stands virtually no chance of beating him. I was glad Mr. McMahon spiced things up by interrupting him, leading to Strowman and Balor coming out and going one-on-one. They've worked well together in the past and it was enjoyable while it lasted. I have no clue why the contest continued after Lesnar attacked Balor at ringside, but that stretch with Balor taking the fight to both beasts was a blast. I still don't see him winning the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble, but it was a nice attempt to convince viewers he's a threat to the title, nonetheless. Intercontinental Champion Bobby Lashley def. Apollo Crews (Non-title)Crews has been in the midst of a mini push lately, so I don't mind the idea of him being inserted into the Intercontinental Championship picture (at least for one night, anyway). The segment was going well before the dumb pose-down, which felt like something we would have seen on Raw in 2003 (Scott Steiner and Triple H, anyone?). The subsequent match wasn't much better, as it went all of a minute or two after the commercial break before it ended abruptly. Meanwhile, I have little interest in seeing Seth Rollins resume his rivalry with Lashley over the title post-Rumble, so here's hoping that tease afterward was nothing more than a red herring.
