By Graham "GSM" Matthews Natalya, Emma and Bayley def. Summer Rae, Sasha Banks and Alicia Fox The match featured several good workers, so it was a foregone conclusion that it was going to be a quality contest (which is more than I can say for most Divas matches on the main roster these days). It was given great time by Divas standards and built to a fine finish with the faces going over. This appeared to be the blow-off to the long-running feud between the BFFs and Natalya, Emma and Bayley, so here's hoping all of them can now move on to bigger and better things. Aiden English def. Colin Cassady While the feud has been well done over the last month, I just don't find their matches to be exciting at all. This bout was decent enough, but it was hardly given any time and the crowd wasn't into the action. I was surprised to see English come away with the clean victory, but it will be interesting to see whether this feud will continue going forward. I may not be the biggest fan of Cassady, but even I can admit that he has potential that shouldn't be wasted with consistent losses.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews The Wyatt Family def. Sin Cara and Los Matadores Man, The Wyatt Family entrance gives me chills. I can't wait for their entrance theme to be performed live at WrestleMania 30 if the rumors are indeed true. The match itself was basically an extended squash, which has been the norm for The Wyatt Family since they started feuding with The Shield. Los Matadores and Sin Cara essentially mean nothing at the moment, so they were the right people to take the loss. It had a very fun finish with every competitor being given time to shine. The Wyatt Family sold well for their opponents' offense at the end and there was one point in the match where I thought they might actually loss (call me gullible). Even in defeat Los Matadores and Sin Cara looked good, which I didn't think was possible. Natalya def. Aksana Cameron on Monday, Natalya on Wednesday. WWE really does want to punish Aksana for injuring Naomi, huh? The match went longer than your typical Divas match and was actually better than one would think it would be. Sure, Natalya may have carried most of the match, but Aksana held her own as well. Aksana still may not be the best wrestler on the roster, but at least she has improved quite a bit since her NXT days. I don't see Natalya going after the Divas Championship any time soon, so this win didn't mean much in the long run. By Graham "GSM" Matthews On Saturday, February 8, New England Championship Wrestling returned to the Cove Community Center in Beverly, MA for another night of exciting action and family friendly entertainment. The show featured two title changes, three tag team matches, an open challenge and much more. (VIEW PHOTOS HERE) Headlining the show was the undefeated Sean Burke putting his NECW Heavyweight Championship up for grabs in a Triple Threat match against Antonio “The Promise Thomas" (FULL INTERVIEW HERE) and Slyck Wagner Brown (FULL INTERVIEW HERE). Thomas came close to capturing the gold, but interference from arch rivals Jeremy Prophet and Genesis prevented that from coming to fruition. Taking advantage of an opportunity, Brown rolled Thomas up for the three count to win the NECW Heavyweight title, his first in nearly 13 years. Thomas and Brown shook hands following the bout, signifying a sign of respect between the two former friends. By Graham "GSM" Matthews WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan Interrupted The Authority Why must every episode of Raw kick off with The Authority and Orton? Seriously, I find it hard to believe they are actually big draws in terms of ratings. The segment accomplished essentially nothing, as The Authority or Orton didn't say anything we didn't already know. If nothing else, it was nice of Bryan (who received a deafening reaction from the live crowd) to acknowledge history by mentioning how Orton once kissed Stephanie McMahon back in 2009. Aside from that, there wasn't much about this segment worth noting, except for the fact that Betty White's appearance was kept short and sweet. Is that really how Big Show is going to return, though? The Wyatt Family def. Rey Mysterio, Cody Rhodes and Goldust I absolutely despise seeing the Rhodes brothers reduced to enhancement talent after such a great tag team title run, but at least they have great in-ring chemistry with The Wyatt Family. Mysterio has been floundering since his return in November, but at least he continues to be involved in fun matches. This bout was no exception, as it was well-built throughout and had a fantastic finish. Bray Wyatt catching Rey Mysterio in Sister Abigail was a thing of beauty. |
