By Graham "GSM" Matthews Becky Lynch def. Bayley I was hoping for a longer match from the two, but for the time they received, they made the most of it and had a nice contest. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this was their first one-on-one encounter, so it felt fresh. Both Bayley and Lynch needs wins, but Lynch hasn't won a singles match in months and Bayley can absorb the loss being the underdog babyface she is. Charlotte coming to Bayley's aid was a solid way of solidifying her as a face and I'm curious as to what the NXT Women's Championship match will be at the next live special. The Vaudevillians def. Mini Lucha Dragons There hasn't been much interaction between The Vaudevillians and The Lucha Dragons since The Vaudevillians became the No. 1 Contenders to the straps, so this was a good way of furthering their feud. Yes, it was silly and something you'd see on the main roster, but it wasn't terrible and only put more heat on the heels. Most importantly, it was only a few minutes long and it didn't overstay its welcome.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Paige def. Alicia Fox This is the third time we've seen this match in the last week and I didn't care about it any more than I did the first time. I realize they have history, but as I've stated before, fans have been given no reason to cheer for Fox. Sure, Paige turned on her, but what exactly about her makes a babyface? The in-ring action was actually good, but the two trading wins doesn't do much for this viewer. Sin Cara def. Curtis Axel This match would have meant more if the two had an issue with each other. They branded this as a rematch from last week, but there was nothing about it that was out of the ordinary. It was a well-wrestled match and all, but Axel bores me to tears and Cara is irrelevant (on the main roster, anyway). Cara going over again doesn't do anything to boost his credibility since he's been in a holding pattern for years. By Graham "GSM" Matthews TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode Called Out Lashley Roode's mic work wasn't as strong as it usual is, but having him kick off the show was logical following the events of last week. He showed some nice fire when calling out Lashley and the two had a decent brawl. The segment didn't overstay its welcome as most of The Authority segments on Raw have as of late. Taryn Terrell def. Havok and Gail Kim in a Triple Threat Match to Win the Knockouts Championship Terrell and Kim have a strong track record of having great matches together, but they weren't given much time to go one-on-one at any point in this match since Havok was always involved in the equation. She wasn't terrible, but her involvement made it an underwhelming match and the crowd wasn't all that interested. Although I'm very happy to see Terrell win the title and finally get her due, I question the move to take the title off Havok this early. At the very least, she wasn't the one pinned, so there's that. By Graham "GSM" Matthews The Usos def. WWE Tag Team Champions Gold and Stardust (Non-title) These two teams always work well together and this was another very god match from them. It's a shame most of it was overshadowed by the chaotic commentary from The Miz and Los Matadores, but the action was enjoyable in the final few minutes. The Usos going over was a smart move since it boosted their momentum following their loss on Raw. Hopefully this is the last we seen from them for a long while to come. Alicia Fox def. Paige I guess Fox being on Team Natalya officially makes her a babyface. I don't think the crowd realizes that since they've had no incentive to cheer for her since she "turned." The match was decent enough, but the lack of crowd connection with Fox hindered it slightly. They have history together, obviously, and they'll be on opposing teams come Survivor Series, so it wasn't completely pointless. |
